Our second release Rosé is one of a very few Australian Rosé wines made from Tempranillo, an exciting variety to be growing in the Barossa.
This wine is consciously made in a dry style, yet retaining intense raspberry fruit flavours, and a freshness that is better suited to enjoy
with a wide variety of foods and tapas plates just like Spain where it originates.
Varietal: 100% Tempranillo
Region: Rowland Flat, Barossa Valley
Vineyard and Vinification:
Liebich’s Tempranillo vines were planted in 2000 on 1.5 acres of heavy red/black soils, and produce approximately 3.5 tonnes per acre.
The grapes were picked specially for this Rosè style wine in March in the middle of the 2009 season at 14°Baume.
The freshly crushed juice had only 24 hours skin contact to infuse the vibrant colour.
Gentle extraction has produced excellent colour and flavour for a well-structured rosé.
The resulting wine is contains 3 g/L residual sugar for subtle sweetness.
Tasting Notes:
Colour: Vibrant cherry-pink colour with a blue hue.
Nose: Intense raspberry confection nose with deeper perfumed notes and a dash of ripe Turkish delight.
Palate: The palate is refreshingly dry balanced with raspberry jube flavours, crisp acidity and a brush of tannin. A lighter style food friendly wine.
Alcohol: 11%.
Cellar: Enjoy now until 2011.
Closure: Screw cap.
