<< Back to list ¦ Next: Tempranillo Rosé >>
A wholly tempting and unique Tempranillo blend!
Varietal: 90% Tempranillo, 7% Merlot, 3% Petit Verdot.
Region: Rowland Flat, Barossa Valley.
Vineyard and Vinification:
Tempranillo vines were planted in 2000 on 1.5 acres of heavy red/black soils, and produce approximately 3.5 tonnes per acre.
Fruit for this second release wine blend was the last fruit picked in the 2005 season, in a relatively warm year at optimal ripeness.
Traditional hand plunging of the skins, basket pressing and non-filtration, have achieved excellent colour and flavour extraction. Striking
features of Tempranillo, besides its raspberry fruit tones, are dark red hues with a blue tinge, and its very fine mellow tannins.
These elements are further enhanced by 18 months maturation in French and Hungarian oak hogsheads.
Tasting Notes:
A wholly tempting wine blend.
Deep, dark garnet with a blue-purple tinge. The nose is intense and complex full of spicy plum pudding, with intriguing savoury tobacco
notes. The palate is enormously soft textured and balanced with lingering fruity spices and perfectly balances with the subtle oak entwining
with the fine tannins. A very food friendly wine.
Alcohol: 14.5% v/v.
Cellar: Now to 5 years.
Closure: Screw cap.
Previous vintage 2004 sold out.
